SB 221 - This act specifically exempts an off-duty peace officer and a peace officer outside his/her jurisdiction from any criminal penalty for carrying a concealed firearm. Current law, as recently interpreted in Opinion No. 89-96 by the Attorney General, only provides such exemption to on-duty officers, but not off-duty officers, outside their jurisdiction. Carrying a concealed firearm is a Class D felony.
This act is similar to SB 49 and SB 130.
