SB 252 - This act is called "The Bounty Hunter Licensure Act." A State Board of Bounty Hunters is created in the Department of Economic Development, to be composed of seven members. The Board may prescribe rules for inspection of firearms training establishments, set fees to offset the costs of this act, employ personnel and determine the sufficiency of applicants' qualifications. A bounty hunters fund is established to retain the fees collected and pay the Board's expenses.

A bounty hunter is a bail bond agent or any other person who captures a suspect released on bail.

The Board shall license all bounty hunters in the state. Each applicant must be 21 years of age, complete a program of 56 hours of firearms training, and obtain a bond of $1 million. Nonresidents who are licensed in their state and have a $1 million bond may pay the fee, register with law enforcement and hunt in this state for one suspect. Any person who bounty hunts or advertises as such without a license is guilty of a Class D felony. Any bounty hunter causing damage to a person or property shall be liable for damages, for which the bond may be used.
