SB 585 - This act clarifies the duties and powers of the
attorney general. The act states that the attorney general will
negotiate and have the power to settle any desegregation cases
against the state. The act also obligates the attorney general
to defend the constitutionality of statutes, and restricts
representation of other agencies, officials or other parties that
may challenge the constitutionality of statutes.
