SB 592 - This act makes the following changes to increase the enforcement of motor vehicle financial responsibility laws:
OFFICER REPORTS - The Department of Revenue (DOR) is required to verify the financial responsibility of any person reported to the DOR by a law officer. Some parts for the notice are set out, and the format must be acceptable to the Director of Revenue. The Director shall verify that terminated policies are replaced and shall suspend the licenses of vehicle owners failing to respond within 30 days.
MINIMUM TERM - Motor vehicle liability policies must be at least 6 months in length.
EFFECTIVE DATE - This act is effective January 1, 1999.
