Current Bill Summary

SB 725 - This act would require the appointing authority of any state administrative board, commission or committee to give consideration to and appoint officers and members in equal numbers of each gender.

If equal numbers of each gender cannot be appointed, the appointing authority shall appoint members and officers as nearly equal as possible of each gender, and the appointing authority shall provide a written explanation to the board, commission or committee, to the Senate if advice and consent of the Senate is required, and to any person upon request.

This act is similar in terms of scope to SB 377 (1997).
