SB 836 - This act defines the rights of funeral processions and the obligations of those responsible for them. Pedestrians and operators of vehicles are required to yield to a funeral procession, with exceptions for emergency vehicles and law enforcement. Funeral processions shall travel at a speed of at least five miles per hour below the posted speed. Other drivers are prohibited from interfering with a funeral procession. Anyone violating these provisions shall be guilty of an infraction, punishable by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars. Funeral establishment liability for any death, personal injury or property loss is limited to one million dollars per incident, unless the damages were intentional or a result of gross negligence. The Department of Revenue shall publish the motorist's responsibilities in its driver's handbook. This bill is identical to SB 448 from 1997.
