Current Bill Summary

SB 942 - This act makes several changes in the law relating to excursion gambling boats. Under current law, gambling boat licenses are initially good for only one year and renewals are good for two years. This act would extend the initial license to two years and make license renewals permanent, with the Gaming Commission authorized to reopen licensing hearings any time after the fifth year.

The act extends the current period during which a gambling boat licensee can petition for a reassessment of taxes owed from ten days to twenty days.

The act makes a Class B misdemeanor of permitting a person under twenty-one years of age to make a wager on a gambling boat, making a wager while under twenty-one years of age, or aiding someone who is under twenty-one years of age in entering a gambling boat or in making an attempt to make a wager on a gambling boat.

The act also requires the establishment of outpatient centers to provide services for compulsive gamblers and their families and requires funding through appropriations.
