AN ACT

Relating to licensing of certain construction professionals.


Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:

Section 1.  1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of section 77.505, RSMo, any city, town or village in any county of the third classification may provide, by ordinance, for the licensing of persons who perform electrical work or plumbing work for compensation within such city, town or village, regardless of whether such person is licensed to perform similar work in another jurisdiction.

2.  Any city, town or village authorized to license persons who perform electrical work pursuant to subsection 1 of this section may require a person to pass an electrical work examination that is approved by such city, town or village in order to receive such license.

3.  Any city, town or village authorized to license persons who perform plumbing work pursuant to subsection 1 of this section may require a person to pass a plumbing work examination that is approved by such city, town or village in order to receive such license.

4.  Any city, town or village authorized to license persons who perform electrical work or plumbing work pursuant to subsection 1 of this section may require the payment of a fee in order for a person to receive such license.  Such fee shall be calculated so that the total of all fees collected shall not exceed the cost of administering the provisions of this section.
