FISCAL ANALYSIS

ASSUMPTION

Officials from the Department of Economic Development - Division of Professional Registration (DPR) assume the proposal would have no fiscal impact on their agency. However, if the proposal would result in additional licensing, it is assumed the committee would be able to handle the additional duties with existing staffing and appropriations. However, if the duties required of this legislation are substantially more than estimated or additional legislation is passed, additional staffing would be necessary.

DESCRIPTION

The proposed legislation would make various changes regarding the licensure of psychologists. It would provide definitions for psychologists, provisional licensed psychologists, and temporary licenses for psychologists. It would change the requirements that have to be met by potential licensees. It would set eligibility of applying for licensure under a reciprocal agreement with regard to examinations. This proposal would also change the educational qualifications for health service provider certification.

The proposed legislation would clarify the initial licensure requirements of psychologists.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
