FISCAL ANALYSIS
ASSUMPTION
The Department of Transportation assumes this proposal would not fiscally impact their agency.
The Office of Administration, Division of Data Processing and Telecommunications assumes that the examination of wireless communication systems would be limited in scope and able to be accomplished by August 30, 1998 with existing state resources. The Division of Purchasing and Materials Management states that costs related to this proposal are undeterminable at this time, because it depends entirely on the outcome of the review done for the General Assembly.
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) assumes the costs associated with the committee, such as meeting costs, travel, hotel, and meals, will be covered by the Office of Administration. Based on this assumption, DPS assumes this proposal would not fiscally impact their agency. If, however, the Office of Administration does not assume the costs of the committee, then DPS would have costs associated with this proposal.
The Department of Conservation assumes the costs associated with this proposal cannot be determined because it depends on the outcome of the review done by the committee.
Oversight assumes this proposal creates a committee on state operated wireless communication systems to submit a report to the General Assembly identifying opportunities for cost savings, increased efficiency, and improved services for Missouri citizens, and that this could be accomplished using existing resources.

No direct fiscal impact to small businesses would be expected as a result of this proposal.
DESCRIPTION
This proposal creates a committee on state operated wireless communication systems to examine existing programs and proposals for development or expansion to identify duplication in resource allocation of wireless communication systems. The committee must submit a report to the general assembly by August 30, 1998, which identifies opportunities for cost savings, increased efficiency and improved services for Missouri's citizens.
This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
