HB 1322 Revises definition of maintenance drugs
Bill Summary
- Prepared by Senate Research -

HB 1322 - This act relates to maintenance drugs covered under a health maintenance organization (HMO). Under current law, both the enrollee and the enrollee's physician must approve the substitution of a prescribed maintenance drug. The law excludes "narrow therapeutic index drugs" from the definition of maintenance drugs to allow substitution for these drugs without physician/enrollee approval. This act removes language that allows for this exception. This does not affect generically equivalent products. This bill is similar to SB782.
