SCHOOLS - This act applies to students in a public high school, a private school, a home school program or a course leading to a general educational development (GED) certificate. A minimum of 2.25 credits earned in the previous semester are required for most students in public high school.

DOCUMENTATION - The superintendent, the chief administrative official, or the parent (in a home school) shall document the enrollment status of the student.

WITHDRAWAL - A school official shall notify the Department of Revenue of any withdrawal from school. "Withdrawal" shall include 10 consecutive days or 15 total days of unexcused absences in a single semester. It will also mean 5 consecutive unexcused absences in a GED course. A driver's license shall be suspended if the child fails to show compliance to the Department of Revenue within 30 days.

SPECIAL DRIVING PRIVILEGES - A person whose driver's license is suspended under this act may apply for special driving privileges through the associate circuit court. Special driving privileges may be granted by the court because of a personal or family hardship.
