SB 143 - This act expands the available reasons for being excused from jury duty. The additional reasons include:
1) Previous jury service within two years; 2) Registered nurses; 3) Living more than 5 miles from the county seat without transportation; 4) Financial hardship; 5) Citizens over 70; 6) Citizen having care of child under 12 whose health or safety would be jeopardized; 7) Care of an aged infirm person; 8) Necessary employees of small businesses; and 9) Non-paid volunteer emergency personnel.
This act is similar to SB 576 (1998).
