SB 348 - This act increases the allowable tax levy rate for debt service in Kansas City from the current fifty cents per hundred dollars assessed valuation to one dollar per hundred dollars assessed valuation. A similar provision is contained in SCS/HB 812.
The act also increases the maximum levy on property taxes
imposed by counties for public hospitals or hospital districts
from the current fifty cents per hundred dollars assessed
valuation to one dollar. The hospital board of trustees or
district board is required, when proposing to submit the
increased levy to a vote, to publish in newspapers a plan for
using the increased revenue for ongoing hospital operations.
