ASSUMPTION

Officials of the Office of State Courts Administrator, Attorney General's Office, Department of Insurance, Department of Health, Department of Mental Health, Department of Economic Development, Division of Professional Registration, State Public Defender's Office, Office of Prosecution Services, and Department of Social Services assume this proposal would not fiscally impact their agencies.

FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business
Small businesses would be expected to be fiscally impacted to the extent that they would perform less procedures due to the requirements of this proposal.

DESCRIPTION

This proposal would prohibit persons from performing a partial-birth abortion unless it would be necessary to save the life of the mother. The proposal also defines partial-birth abortion and makes a person who knowingly and intentionally performs a partial-birth abortion guilty of second degree murder.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
