DESCRIPTION

Under current law, the Human Rights Commission must issue a letter notifying a claimant that he or she has 90 days to file a civil action if, after 180 days, the Commission has not completed its investigation. This proposal requires the Commission to issue a similar letter when it terminates processing of a complaint.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program, and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
