DESCRIPTION

This proposal requires the disclosure of persons infected with Human Immuno-Deficiency Virus (HIV) in certain situations. Current law states that information regarding an individual's HIV status is confidential, but may be disclosed to certain individuals listed in the section. This proposal adds peace officers and prosecuting attorneys possessing a compelling need for disclosure of HIV-status for the investigation of and adjudication of a criminal proceeding.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program, and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
