HB 122 -- INCOME TAX (Gaskill) This bill allows an individual income taxpayer to not file and pay Missouri income tax if such taxpayer is not required to file a federal income tax return. This bill will become effective January 1, 2000. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 122 -- INCOME TAX SPONSOR: Gaskill COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Ways and Means by a vote of 15 to 0. This bill allows an individual income taxpayer to not file and pay Missouri income tax if such taxpayer is not required to file a federal income tax return. This bill will become effective January 1, 2000. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill will eliminate the need for certain taxpayers to file a federal return just for the purpose of filing a Missouri return to receive certain tax benefits.
