This bill modifies the definition of "public servant" within the
criminal code to include persons appointed to a government
position and persons elected to a position with any government
of the state.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that many unpaid public officials
hold positions of responsibility and should therefore be
accountable for their actions.  Supporters also say it should be
a crime to bribe a public official whether or not the public
official is paid or unpaid.
