HB 300 -- DRIVER'S LICENSE This bill requires a county or municipality that takes and loses a person's license to replace and pay all cost of replacement of that license. A license will be deemed lost if, after 30 days from the date of taking the license, the municipality or county has no legal reason for retaining the license and cannot locate the license.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 300 -- DRIVER'S LICENSES SPONSOR: Green COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 18 to 0. This bill requires a county or municipality that takes and loses a person's license to replace and pay all cost of replacement of that license. A license will be deemed lost if, after 30 days from the date of taking the license, the municipality or county has no legal reason for retaining the license and cannot locate the license. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that if a political subdivision takes a person's license, they should take care of it. If the license is lost, the political subdivision should be responsible for the loss. Testifying for the bill was Representative Green. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
