HB 34 -- INSURANCE (Auer) This bill authorizes any 3 or more political subdivisions to join together to provide, in addition to all other types of insurance, insurance for elderly or low-income housing in which they have an insurable interest. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 34 -- INSURANCE SPONSOR: Auer COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Insurance by a vote of 18 to 0. This bill authorizes any 3 or more political subdivisions to join together to provide, in addition to all other types of insurance, insurance for elderly or low-income housing in which they have an insurable interest. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that housing authorities sell homes and maintain management contracts on homes. Housing authorities would like to have it clearly specified in law that they can purchase insurance for elderly or low-income housing.
