COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Tourism, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs by a vote of 18 to
0.
This bill allows any fourth class city located in a first class
county to impose a tax on the charges for all sleeping rooms of
hotels, motels, bed and breakfast inns, campgrounds, and any
docking facility which rents slips to recreation boats used by
transient guests.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this legislation will help
economic development in smaller communities.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Ross; and City of
Grain Valley.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
