HB 867 -- OPTOMETRY If it is found that a person is practicing optometry without a license or in a manner that is a threat to the public at large, the Board of Optometry is given the authority to request courts of general jurisdiction to issue injunctions, restraining orders, or other orders to prohibit the person from practicing.
HB 867 -- OPTOMETRY (McKenna) If it is found that persons are practicing optometry without a license or are deemed as a threat to the public at large, the Board of Optometry is given the authority to request courts of general jurisdiction to issue injunctions, restraining orders, or other orders to prohibit someone from practicing. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
HB 867 -- OPTOMETRY SPONSOR: McKenna COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Professional Registration and Licensing by a vote of 15 to 0. If it is found that persons are practicing optometry without a license or are deemed as a threat to the public at large, the Board of Optometry is given the authority to request courts of general jurisdiction to issue injunctions, restraining orders, or other orders to prohibit someone from practicing. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill gives the board the same authority as other boards to have injunctive relief.
