HB 987 -- COUNTY AUDITOR SPONSOR: Backer COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 18 to 0. This bill repeals the statute which exempts certain second class counties from having the office of a county auditor. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that counties are big business and that an auditor is needed to watch taxpayer money.
