Born December 6, 1950, in St. Charles. Graduate of Furman University (B.A., 1973); University of Missouri-Columbia (M.A., history, 1975); Washington University (J.D., 1985).

Married Jean Poggemeier, December 3, 1988, in St. Charles. They have two sons, Brendan Erich and William Tyler. Taught in the public schools seven years; practicing attorney ten years.

Member: St. Charles Borromeo Parish; Rotary Club; president, Boys and Girls Club of St. Charles County; St. Charles County Salvation Army Advisory Board. Elected to the House: 1988-1990. Elected to the Senate: 1992.
