Officials of the Office of Secretary of State assume no fiscal impact.



Officials of the Franklin County Clerk's office assume no fiscal impact.



Officials of the Kansas City Board of Election Commission assume no fiscal impact, however, officials assume there could be a problem with filing dates for Kansas City Municipal elections.

FISCAL IMPACT - Small Business



No direct fiscal impact to small businesses would be expected as a result of this proposal.



DESCRIPTION



This substitute makes several changes to deadlines relating to elections. In its main provisions, the substitute:

(1) Changes the deadline for the first meeting after the election of the city council each year in third class cities from the third to the fourth Tuesday in April;

(2) Changes the opening filing date for an office in a political subdivision or special district from the fifteenth Tuesday to the sixteenth Tuesday prior to an election; and

(3) Changes the deadline for the first meeting after an annual election for school boards in seven-director districts from 7 to 14 days after the election.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
