ASSUMPTION



Platte County Election Commission officials assume this proposal would have no fiscal impact, however, officials assume the potential would exist for lawsuits when cities and county officials could not agree on budgetary policy. Officials assume legal costs could be as much as $200,000.



Oversight assumes this proposal is procedural and does not generate any additional cost or savings to political subdivisions. Oversight assumes this proposal would have no state or local government fiscal impact.

No direct fiscal impact to small businesses would be expected as a result of this proposal.



DESCRIPTION



This substitute requires that the annual general operating expenditures for elections from the general revenue fund of Platte County or any city in Platte County be subject to the budgeting approval of the county's governing body.

This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
