Anita T. Yeckel served the people of the 1st District, now the 15th District (part of St. Louis County). Born in Utah, she moved with her family to St. Louis when she was 6 years old. She graduated from the former Mercy High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in political science and an MPPA from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She worked in the banking industry for 17 years, including for the Yeckel family’s former American Home Savings and Loan. Senator Yeckel served three terms on the Lindbergh School District Board of Education, serving as president, treasurer and secretary. She received the St. Louis Business Journal Legislative Award, 2000 Voice of Missouri Award and UMSL’s Presidential Citation for Alumni Service. She was elected to the Senate in 1996 and re-elected in 2000. Senator Yeckel served as the assistant majority floor leader during the 92nd General Assembly, from 2003-2004. (Republican)
