DESCRIPTION
This proposed legislation requires school districts to establish a minute of silence each day, during which pupils will stay seated and silent, and may engage in any activity that does not distract other pupils in their exercise of choice. The proposal enumerates meditation and prayer as permissible activities and states that the proposed legislation is enacted to ensure free exercise of religion and freedom from coercion to participate or not to participate.
This legislation is not federally mandated, would not duplicate any other program and would not require additional capital improvements or rental space.
