Senator Paul LeVota to Hold Meeting with Local Election Board Commissioners

INDEPENDENCE — State Sen. Paul LeVota, D-Independence, will host a meeting with the commissioners from the Kansas City Election Board and the Jackson County Election Board to discuss pending legislation slated for the next session.

“I am committed to a fair and transparent election process in order to make it easier and more convenient for all voters in our state,” Sen. LeVota said. “I believe an open and honest discussion with the Commissioners regarding legislative proposals, such as consolidation, is the best way to improve our elections.”

The meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. at Sen. LeVota’s district office located at 12401 E 43rd Street #111, Independence, Mo., 64055. The public is invited to observe the meeting.

All eight commissioners were personally invited to attend. There are four commissioners who oversee the Kansas City Election Board and four commissioners that oversee the Jackson County Election Board.  Both boards supervise elections in parts of the 11th Senatorial District.

Senator LeVota added, “Many constituents have shared their concerns about the differences between the practices of each board. I want to ensure each voter has the opportunity to make their voice heard.”
