JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Will Kraus, R-Lee’s Summit, will join children, parents and administrators from the Blue Springs R-IV School District, as well as Blue Springs Mayor Carson Ross, as they walk to school Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, 2013, to celebrate Missouri’s Walk to School Day.
Participants will meet at the corner of SW 16th Street and SW Moore Street in Blue Springs at 8:10 a.m., and will walk to the Thomas Ultican Elementary School.
Senator Kraus sponsored Senate Bill 180 in 2011, which designates October as "Walk & Bike to School Month," the first Wednesday of October as "Walk and Bike to School Day," the month of May as "Missouri Bicycle Month," the third Friday in May as "Bike to Work Day," and the week of Bike to Work Day as "Bike to Work Week.”
