Senator Munzlinger Sponsors Measure Relating to Public Safety
|
JEFFERSON CITY — On Feb. 28, 2013, Sen. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, presented Senate Bill 231, a measure that would modify tax refund and lottery setoff procedure for unpaid health care expenses, to members of the Senate Ways and Means Committee.
“Senate Bill 231 would allow ambulance districts to collect payments on unpaid debt from lottery winnings and state tax refunds,” Sen. Munzlinger said. “A lot of these districts are struggling, but without them, much of rural Missouri would have no way to get to a hospital. My proposal would keep these ambulance districts operating and able to continue to help residents in Missouri who live in areas that would otherwise not have accessibility to these emergency services.”
During the bill presentation, Randolph County Ambulance District Director Clay Joiner testified on the need for this legislation.
“I would like to thank Clay Joiner for taking the time to testify on the bill,” Sen. Munzlinger said. “Too many people in rural Missouri are hurting, due to cuts in services, and anything we can do to ease the situation is greatly appreciated. It may not seem like much, but I believe this idea will help everybody in the long run.”
Committee members have sent Senate Bill 231 to the full Senate for their consideration. To see a full list of Sen. Munzlinger’s legislation log on to www.senate.mo.gov/Munzlinger. |
