Amendment 1 Recount Nearly Complete
|
JEFFERSON CITY — Sen. Mike Parson, R-Bolivar announced the recount of the Amendment 1 vote is nearly complete with all but 5 counties having reported their results to Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander. Amendment 1 was the constitutional amendment more commonly known as the Farming Rights Amendment.
So far, few election authorities have reported any significant changes to the results of the original count. Several counties reported no changes at all. After adding up all the recounted votes reported to the Secretary of State, there has been a net loss of 65 affirmative votes. The largest change reported so far was in St. Louis County where a net loss of 91 affirmative votes was reported.
“It is a shame the taxpayers have had to foot the bill for this recount when it was clear the outcome would not be changed,” said Parson, “The effort and expense for this project has been significant. I am looking forward to the results being certified and this important language being added to the Missouri Constitution.”
