JEFFERSON CITY — Senator Jamilah Nasheed, D-St. Louis, has been assigned to four committees for the 98th Missouri General Assembly. She will be representing her district and her party on Appropriations; Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Oversight; Jobs, Economic Development, and Local Government; and Gubernatorial Appointments.
Despite a rule change that decreased the membership of every committee,
Sen. Nasheed was able to secure a new, and quite prominent role in her caucus. She will be a new member of the coveted Appropriations Committee, an assignment that was a delight to many of Sen. Nasheed’s supporters.
“To get this seat on Appropriations and keep three of my other assignments is really exciting for my office, and it will help us to better represent the voices of our district,” she said.
“I think I will be able to bring my experience to the committees I was reassigned to and some renewed enthusiasm to the Appropriations Committee. I am ecstatic with my assignments, and I cannot wait to get going,” she said, after the assignments were announced.
The Senate Appropriations Committee is responsible for overseeing the roughly $26 billion Missouri state budget.
