Statement from Sen. Jamilah Nasheed Regarding Charleston Tragedy

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, D-St. Louis, today issued the following statement relating to the murder of nine individuals at a church in Charleston, S.C.

“I wish to extend my sincerest condolences over the tragedy that struck Charleston, South Carolina last night. This heinous and unspeakable act of violence is an attack on the very core of our shared American values. I encourage all Americans, no matter creed or color, to unite in prayer for the families and friends of those fallen and to condemn the practice of hate, wherever it may be found.

Today is the day for mourning. Tomorrow, we work to ensure that no community is forced to endure a tragedy like this ever again."
