On Wednesday, Jan. 7, the First Regular Session of the 98th General Assembly was officially called to order. I was sworn in to office by the Honorable Mary R. Russell, Chief Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court. I was joined by my wife, children and dear friends for the solemn ceremony. I know the great task that is now before me of representing the constituents of the 2nd Senatorial District. I take that responsibility very seriously and look forward to serving as your voice in the Missouri Senate.

One way each Senator serves as a voice for their constituents is through the committees upon which they serve. This week, Senate President Pro Tem Tom Dempsey announced committee assignments. I will proudly serve as the vice-chairman for the Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee, and as a member of the following committees: General Laws and Pensions; Education; Veterans’ Affairs and Health; and Ways and Means. Some of those committees will meet for the first time next week. I look forward to sharing our progress with you as session continues.
Throughout this session, I will do my best to keep you informed of our work here in the Capitol. I encourage you to contact my office if you have comments, questions or concerns.
