This week, the Appropriations Committee heard from Elected
Officials, General Assembly, Judiciary, Public Defender and the Departments of Mental Health and Health & Senior Services.
The Jobs, Economic Development and Local Government
Committee reviewed Senate Bill 266, which prohibits municipalities
from providing a service that is being provided by at least one private business, within the boundaries of the municipality, without a vote of the people.
On Tuesday, Feb. 17, I filed Senate Concurrent Resolution 22 which encourages the Attorney General of Missouri, Chris Koster, to join the state of Texas in their legal action against the implementation of the “Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents” program. The program was to begin on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the order of the president until several administrative appeals caused delay. Those appeals allowed more research into the executive order, which resulted in finding the action of the President unconstitutional and verified that he had overstepped his power capacity.
Senator Eric Schmitt, R-Glendale, and I co-sponsored Senate Bill 452 which alters the offence of failure

to appear.
I had the pleasure of presenting the Battle High School Spartans Football team on Wednesday, Feb. 18 to the Senate body. In the first year of eligible district participation, Battle High School earned the State Championship in Class 5 when they defeated the Nixa Eagles 25 to 22. The team is led by head coach Justin Conyers and supported by several other coaches and parents. The parents not only contribute support on the field, but off the field as well by providing meals for both Battle’s and the opposing team’s players before and after each game. It is with this foundation that Battle High School Football team will continue to see success.
