JEFFERSON CITY—State Senator Ryan Silvey, R-Kansas City, has been named Chairman of the Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and Environment Committee by newly elected President Pro Tem, Sen. Ron Richard, R-Joplin. Sen. Silvey replaces Sen. Mike Kehoe, R-Jefferson City, who was recently elected Senate Majority Floor Leader.
“Job creation and economic development have always been a top priority of the caucus. Under Senator Silvey’s leadership, the committee will be integral in moving some of those policies,” said President Pro Tem Richard. “I know from serving in the Missouri House together he can handle tough, complex issues and work with all interests to find fair and equitable solutions.”
Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and Environment is a standing committee of the Missouri State Senate comprised of elevensenators. The committee considers and reports upon bills and matters referred to it relating to: the development of state commerce, the commercial sector, consumer protection, telecommunications and cable issues, the development and conservation of energy resources and the disposal of solid, hazardous and nuclear wastes and other matters relating to environmental preservation.
“I appreciate the confidence Pro Tem Richard has placed in me by asking me to lead this committee,” said Silvey. “I look forward to working with all sides to tackle the challenges that lie ahead.”
Sen. Silvey also serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, as well as Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Oversight. In addition, he serves on Veterans’ Affairs and Health, the Joint Committee on Legislative Research and the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules. |
