Several events were held this week at the Capitol regarding Show-Me State youths who admirably demonstrate their true potential as lifelong learners and involved citizens through the excellence of their leadership in student organizations. I was happy to meet with constituents from my district representing various student organizations. I would like to take a moment to recognize these true citizen lobbyists.
Representing National FFA Organization (FFA), Cole Edwards is the state president of the organization. Cole is a graduate of Salisbury High School who now attends the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is the son of Steve and Deb Edwards of Salisbury.
Representing Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Caylie James is the state vice president of membership. Caylie is a junior at Meadville High School and plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University in the future. She is the daughter of Travis James of Meadville and Jeff and Heidi Edwards of Meadville.
Also representing FCCLA is member Shannon Sullivan, a senior at Keytesville High School. Shannon’s future plans are to attend Moberly Area Community College (MACC). He is the son of Scott Sullivan of Keytesville and Dana Donovan of Brookfield.
I was happy to introduce Cole on the Senate floor for his contributions to his respected organization. Caylie and Shannon were able to job shadow me on their day at the Capitol. I hope all these young leaders learned a lot from their visit. I applaud them on their good work and continued efforts in their student organizations.
