Your State Capitol The Missouri State Capitol was built between 1913 and 1917. The four-story building has approximately 500,000 square feet of space and sits on nearly three acres of land. The structure is a symmetrical building in the Roman Renaissance style, topped with a dome. The State Capitol building stands on 285 concrete piers that extend up to solid rock. The building is 437 feet long by 200 feet wide. The Capitol rotunda is 65 feet in diameter and is flanked by a grand marble staircase. Limestone marble coats all the floors, corridors and stairs.
