AN ACT

To repeal section 451.022, RSMo 2000, relating to marriage, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to the same subject.


Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:

Section A.  Section 451.022, RSMo 2000, is repealed and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 451.022, to read as follows:

[451.022.  1.  It is the public policy of this state to recognize marriage only between a man and a woman.

2.  Any purported marriage not between a man and a woman is invalid.

3.  No recorder shall issue a marriage license, except to a man and a woman.]
