SB 496 - Current law provides a formula for the amount of state aid that the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education shall remit to a charter school. Beginning in the 2023-24 school year, this act provides that certain provisions of the formula shall apply only in the fiscal year immediately following a fiscal year in which the amount appropriated for pupil transportation equals the highest percentage of the allowable costs of providing pupil transportation authorized under current law in the preceding fiscal year. If the amount appropriated for pupil transportation in any succeeding year falls below such percentage, certain provisions of the formula shall not apply until the requirements described in the act are met. This act is identical to HB 226 (2023).
