SB 590 - Under the act, the Department of Natural Resources shall not issue a permit for the operation of a solid waste disposal area located in a service area, rather than a city, with more than 400,000 inhabitants and located in more than one county without receiving approval from an adjoining municipality if such area is located within one mile of such municipality, instead of one-half mile as in the current law. The governing body of such municipality shall conduct a public hearing within thirty days of providing notice, instead of fifteen days as currently provided. This act is identical to HB 909 (2023).
