Senator Denny Hoskins Celebrates the Signing of Senate Bills 167 & 171
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, was excited to announce the signing of Senate Bills 167 and 171 by the governor, eliminating the need for holders of commercial drivers’ licenses to drive to Jefferson City to provide copies of medical certificates to the state.
“In my opinion this is a simple change that removed an antiquated piece of red tape. It is vital that we do everything we can to ease the burdens for these men and women who play such a key role in our economy,” Sen. Hoskins said. “In today’s world it is unnecessary to have the people who pump life into our area businesses by delivering goods across the state submit the appropriate documentation for their licensure in person. Allowing them to use various communication tools to expedite this process helps them, helps our economy and helps the entire state by getting them working and out on the road as quickly as possible.”
Senator Hoskins’ SB 171 contained similar language to SB 167 and the bills were combined. The bill allows medical examiners’ certificates to be provided to necessary state agencies by mail, fax or E-mail, in addition to the in-person options already allowed by statute.
Senate Bills 167 and 171 will become law on August 28.
