Standing with Israel

While I would much prefer to be writing about the weather changing and changing leaf colors or the excitement of the upcoming holidays. Unfortunately, there are more pressing issues that I believe should be addressed, namely the current climate and violence being perpetrated in the Middle East.

I stand with those who are angry, who struggle to understand what must drive terrorists to kidnap and harm women and children. The tension in that region is not new, nor is likely to be solved in the coming days, weeks or months. My position as your state senator does not yield significant influence over how our country and military will respond, but I proudly stand with the nation of Israel and will do whatever I can to support that nation’s right to defend its sovereignty.

There are plenty of issues that concern us within our own borders. It would be easy to turn a blind eye and simply focus solely on addressing concerns at home. I urge you to take some time and stay caught up on these events, to pray for the innocent civilians who are being caught in the crossfire of an ancient conflict and to donate to charities and aid foundations that are working to provide assistance to them.
