Go Chiefs!

I hope you have had a good week, celebrating the holiday as well as the Chief’s Super Bowl win. I know I am proud of our Kansas City Chiefs for bringing home the Lombardi Trophy this last weekend. It was a great game with a great win in overtime. Go Chiefs!

On the Senate floor, we spent two days discussing initiative petition (IP) reform. This will protect our state constitution from being manipulated too easily by requiring not just the majority of the population be in favor of an initiative petition, but also the majority of Missouri’s eight congressional districts. This ensures rural voices are not lost in the noise when voting on important issues. There are still amendments being offered and assessed to ensure this bill is the best it can be before it is voted on by the General Assembly and sent to the ballots.
