Senator Denny Hoskins Files Bill to Protect Students
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, filed Senate Bill 1492 on Feb. 28, 2024.
The bill increases the penalty for anyone found guilty of providing sexually explicit material to a student. Current law classifies this crime as a class A misdemeanor. Senate Bill 1492 would change it to a class E felony.
“Students and parents should be confident that schools are a safe place, and the punishment for those who break that trust should be significant,” Sen. Hoskins said. “I believe this bill will protect our youth and put away those who would manipulate or groom them.”
Senator Hoskins says he is prepared to make this bill a priority and expects it to pass swiftly through the Senate.
