Week of Feb. 26, 2024

Protecting our Rights

Greetings! The weather was beautiful this week and I was reminded of the wonderful state we all live in. With this in mind, I have and will continue to fight for our beautiful state.

The Senate discussed Senate Bill 754. This bill is a combination of multiple bills which all outline various measures to ensure public safety. One amendment I have fought to add to the bill would protect the 2nd Amendment rights of all Missourians by establishing an “Anti-Red Flag” provision aimed at keeping the government from ever being able to seize the firearms of law-abiding citizens. This unfortunately did not make it onto the bill, but I will continue to fight for the constitutional rights of citizens throughout the state of Missouri.

My Senate Bill 1207 was passed out of committee this week. This bill provides a tax incentive to employers to hire employees who meet the criteria outlined in the federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit which includes those with disabilities and veterans. I hope to discuss this bill on the Senate floor and get it passed onto the House soon.

I also was happy to hear from the U.S. congressman from Missouri’s 8th Congressional District as he talked to the Majority Caucus this week. I hope my fellow colleagues feel how necessary it is to work together to pass conservative legislation.

I will keep you updated as the work continues and always look forward to meeting with my constituents. So feel free to stop by if you are in the Capitol.

As always, I appreciate hearing your comments, opinions and concerns. Please feel free to contact me in Jefferson City at 573-751-4302. You may also email me at denny.hoskins@senate.mo.gov.
