Senator Tony Luetkemeyer’s “Max’s Law” Passes in the Senate
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer’s, R-Parkville, Senate Bill 754 was passed by the Senate today. This public safety bill creates multiple laws to help better protect Missourians throughout the state. Sen. Luetkemeyer’s underlying bill creates “Max’s Law.” It protects law enforcement K9s by increasing penalties for injuring or killing these animals. “These heroic animals put their lives on the line every day to protect the public and their human partners,” Luetkemeyer said. “The law should protect them.” Other key points within the bill would ban celebratory gun fire through “Blair’s Law,” establish a cyber-crimes task force, remove parole for juveniles convicted of second-degree murder and create new penalties for fleeing arrest from law enforcement officers. The bill now moves to the Missouri House of Representatives. For more information about Sen. Luetkemeyer, visit senate.mo.gov/Luetkemeyer. ### Sen.
