Senator Tony Luetkemeyer Selects District Winner in Senate Art Contest JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer, R-Parkville, selected artwork by Jay Adams, a senior at Park Hill South High School, to represent the 34th Senatorial District in the 2024 Missouri Senate Art Exhibit competition. The winning entry was submitted by Adams’ art teacher, Heather Sulzen. “This is a wonderful event to foster the creative spirit in our youth and support art education across the state,” Sen. Luetkemeyer said. “It was delightful to see so many great submissions this year and to meet Jay who did such an amazing job with her piece.” For the past ten years, the Senate has sponsored this event alongside the office of the lieutenant governor, Missouri Alliance for Arts Education and the Missouri Art Education Association. Students from schools in each of Missouri’s senatorial districts submitted artwork for the annual competition. During a ceremony held in the Capitol Rotunda, finalists were recognized and the winner from each district received a medal to commemorate their achievement in the Missouri Senate Art Exhibit. Each winner’s artwork will be displayed in a walkway that connects the State Capitol building with the Senate Parking Garage where lawmakers can look at and enjoy them as they walk to their cars. They will remain on display there through March 2025. For more information about Sen. Luetkemeyer, visit senate.mo.gov/Luetkemeyer. ### |
